Kordon Termite Barrier is a physical and chemical barrier laminate installed under and around the slab, sealing the entry points termites use — slab perimeters, penetrations, construction joints and cavity walls. For builders and owner-builders
We work directly with builders across the Gympie region and understand what a construction program looks like. Termite barrier installation sits on the critical path between site works and slab pour, and a delay there delays everything downstream. We turn up when we said we would.
For owner-builders: this is one of the areas where getting it wrong is expensive and invisible for years. The certification and warranty documentation has to be correct at the time of installation. It cannot be retrofitted onto a job that was done informally.

Already built? You still have options

Whichever system you have, remember: no barrier removes the need for inspection. AS 3660.2 recommends inspections at intervals of no more than 12 months to confirm the system has not been bridged or breached.

Is termite protection compulsory for new homes in Queensland?
Yes. The National Construction Code requires termite management for new buildings containing timber or other susceptible elements, installed in accordance with AS 3660.1. Your building certifier will require documented evidence — typically a Form 43 — before the build can proceed through inspection stages.
What is a Form 43?
Form 43 is the certificate confirming that a termite management system has been installed in accordance with the relevant standard. Your certifier requires it, and it forms part of the permanent record for the property. Gold City issues Form 43 documentation on every pre-construction installation.
What is Kordon and why do you recommend it?
Kordon is a termite management barrier from Envu, installed under and around the slab of a new building. When during construction is a termite barrier installed?
Between site preparation and the slab pour, depending on the system. It needs to be scheduled into the build program — it is not something that can be added later without significant cost and compromise. Talk to us early rather than the week before the pour.
Do I still need annual termite inspections if my new home has a barrier?
Yes. A barrier is a managed system, not a permanent guarantee. Termites can bridge or breach barriers, and AS 3660.2 recommends inspections at intervals of no more than 12 months. Annual inspections by a QBCC-licensed technician are also typically a condition of maintaining warranty coverage.
